My Mantra For 2016

For those of you who may not know what the “One Word for 2016” is I shall explain. It’s where you choose one word (if you’re a rebel pick as many words as you want) to focus on throughout the whole year instead of making different resolutions. I prefer this better because it’s easier for me to stay accountable and actually achieve my goals. It’s very similar to having a mantra, something or a phrase that you focus on during meditation. The philosophy behind this is if you concentrate on something or a phrase then eventually it’ll become apart of your lifestyle without you even realizing it.

Last year I picked the word overcome due to all the hard changes I had to go through during the previous year. I can happily say I did overcome several things both big and small. I overcame my break-up, public speaking, my first year of college, and other small lifestyle changes. Even through the worst that happened last year, I can still say it was a good year. Towards the end of the year I did notice a few things I needed to work on. I studied and stayed in my house way too much. Which isn’t a bad thing but I remember turning down opportunities to be with my friends or family because I was studying 24/7. I felt like my whole life has been nothing but school. 10 years down the road what do I want to remember about my life now?

So this year my word for 2016 is intention. Intention is defined as the thing that you plan to do or achieve that gives your life purpose.  I want to start living my life with more intention. I want to wake up each day with a purpose. Along with that I want to experience life more and do things that make me happy, inspire me, and empower me. So this year is going to be interesting year and intention is going to be bit harder to fit in my lifestyle but I’d still like to try.

What’s one word that you want to focus on this year?
