January Happenings & Goal Recap

Monday was the start of our Monthly Aspirations Link-up where you can share your goals and aspirations with my lovely co-host Angela from The Clutter Box Blog and me.  Our goal is to support each other and help hold each other accountable that way we all reach our goals for each month. We’d love if you stop by and link-up with us.  I just wanted to rewind everything that happened in January and how I did with my January Aspirations.

January Happenings:

Fairy Lights & Dreams Launched on the 1st!! I now have a vision for this blog as well as what I want you all to get out of my writing. Plus I own my own domain now!!
Monthly Aspirations Link-up Launched on the 4th!! : I’ve always wanted to run a link-up and now I get to co-host one with Angela every month. It has its ups and downs but it truly is exciting.
Spring Semester Started on the 13th This might be my last semester at my community college. I’m hoping to start at a 4-year university in the fall. So this is like the last chapter in my college education.
Created a Facebook Page for Fairy Lights & Dreams I’ve always been insecure about people I know personally knowing that I blog. I don’t why I just do. I pour my heart out to you guys and I’m always afraid of them judging me. However this year I thought “to the heck with that” I love blogging and I’m creating a Facebook page for my new little space. I don’t regret it one bit.
Applied for my first Internship It made me feel adultish sending in my application. Although I may not get the internship I still consider this an accomplishment.
My Boyfriend Came Down to Visit Me. It’s been forever since I’ve seen him. When he did come down to seem me last time we were just friends and this time around we’re dating. So it was an interesting and fun weekend.

January Goal Recap:

Meditating in the morning and in the evening.
In the beginning this was a rough goal to stick by, but I found an app called Beditations that made it easier to stay accountable for this goal. It’s a meditation app that has nighttime and morning meditations. The best part is you do the nighttime mediation set an alarm for when you want to wake up and the morning mediation will begin. So it’s just so convenient.  The app is free but you only get a select of the different types of mediations there are. They have quite a variety so I went ahead and actually purchased all the meditations. I’d say it was a great investment in myself.

Stop living my life by a to-do list.
I made to-do list every now and then. The whole point of this goal however was for me to accept unexpected things and go a little off the plan without feeling like it’s the end of the world. I managed to accomplish that. I got a chance to spend time with my family more without worrying about what I did or did not accomplish that day. I had date nights every Sunday no matter what I needed to finish I was able to drop it and finish it up the following day. I also made a 10:00 bedtime for myself that way I’m not working through the night. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I was less stressed and it was easier for me to accept that it’s not the end of the world if I don’t get something done nor does it make a failure.  I didn’t turn anything in late either so it was really a win-win.

Stop displacing my feelings.
I did have bad days where I unconsciously started doing this but when I was aware I was doing this I’d immediately stop and take a few breaths. I’d say I did better than expected. Of course there’s still improvements to be made when it comes to this but I think I’m on a great track so far.

Letting Go.
This was easier said than done. It’s going to take some time for me to let go of toxic things and people especially people. I’m the type of person that hates saying goodbye to people who once impacted my life in positive ways. So this is something I still need to work on and hopefully I get better this month.

What are your January Happenings? What did you accomplish last month?
