Mantra Monday #5

Finish the sentence "Today is the day I..." What comes to your mind when you say "Today is the day"? For me it's Today is the day I actually get up off my butt and exercise. Today is the day I stop making excuses for myself. Today is the day I get shit done. Today is the day I study. Today is the day I open a book. Today is the day I show those in my life a little love.

There are so many times where I make excuses for myself for not doing things. I always tell myself "Oh, you can do it tomorrow, next week, or next month." and "I'm just too busy or exhausted". Last week I was determined to do what I set out to do this month. At first, I thought "The month is almost over might as well wait till next month." Then a voice inside me said, "No, today is the day." So I got up with that attitude and decided to start exercising like I planned to this month. Everyone in my family thought I was joking but that afternoon when I got home I rallied up my niece's and my nephew and walked 3 miles. I continued exercising for the whole week with the exception of our two rest days.

I thought what if we lived every day like that. What if our goal every day was to finish the sentence "Today is the day I..." So I started using that as my motto. I stopped making excuses for why I couldn't do something. I either did it or I didn't. It's okay if I didn't do it as long as I didn't make an excuse as to why.

So I offering this idea to you and you don't need to wait until tomorrow to do it. Wherever you are or whatever you're doing finish this sentence "Today is the day I..." leave your response in the comments. I'd love to hear what you plan to do today.  For me Today is the day I start blogging again. It feels good to be back.
