Compare No More

I unconsciously compare myself to other women, and then I start feeling inadequate. So this quote really hits home for me. I was listening to a podcast a few months ago about How to Stop Jealous in Your Relationship by Matthew. He said when we compare ourselves to other women or men in our partner’s lives if we have more to offer than them then we’re not threatened by them, however, once we don’t add up to the person we’re threatened and that’s what causes our jealous. He had a solution for this, he questioned what do you have to offer.

The person may have good looks and be super talented in singing but you’re funny and you’re creative in other areas. He said that’s how we should be looking at it the person may have all this but I have all this. Of course, he said that’s all that matters if the person you’re with doesn’t want to be with you then you know it’s not because of you, it’s because of the choices they made. I’m not going to lie jealousy is something I struggle with in my relationship both me and my boyfriend so once I heard this I thought this makes so much sense. I know it seems like an easy solution but it was a fresh perspective that got me reevaluating the way I saw things. Which brings me back to this quote we need to be able to admire someone else without questioning ourselves. Sure they may look good in certain clothes; they may be talented, but this certain style suits you better and you’re talented in this area. So when you’re awing over someone remember that there are things about you that are worth awing over too.

What are your thoughts on comparison?
